Trompert has his Don Quichotte dying in a metal tub whilst behind him water runs down from a sloping wall. Having just left in his will an island to his servant Sancho Panza, it is as if the in his tub dying Don Quichotte floats away from his own dream world. Brilliantly and movingly staged!’

‘At several occasions the chorus (literally) runs onto the stage, at other times it forms a ominous barrier ol light and branches in the back of the hall. Dulcinee moves about in an electrical cart and resides with her houshold in a builders block set back on stage. Sancho’s ass and Quichotte’s horse are made from metal scrap. This is theatrical imagination at full strength.’
